Marriage


♣ Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)

"A woman is married for four things, i.e., her wealth, her family status, her beauty and her religion. So you should marry the religious woman (otherwise) you will be a losers.

♣ Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)

Publicize these marriages, conduct them in mosques, and beat the duff (tambourines) to announce them.

♣ Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)

The division between the lawful and the unlawful lies in the duff (tambourine) and the voice (which is the announcement).

♣ Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam married me in Shawwal and consummated his marriage with me in Shawwal”. Hence she liked for her friends to get married in Shawwal.

♣ I proposed marriage to a woman during the time of the Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, and the Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: 'Have you seen her?’ I said: 'No.' He said: 'look at her, for that is more likely to create love between you.’

♣ Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam observed the trace of yellow on Abdur Rahman ibn Awf RadhiAllahu Anhu and asked, “What is it?” He said, “I have married a woman for the weight of nawah in gold”. He said, “May Allah bless you. Give a wedding feast, even with a sheep only”.

♣ A virgin came to the Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam and mentioned that her father had married her against her will, so the Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam allowed her to exercise her choice.

♣ We were with the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam while we were young and had no wealth whatever. So Allah’s Apostle Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “O young people! Whoever among you can marry, should marry, because it helps him lower his gaze and guard his modesty (i.e. his private parts from committing illegal sexual intercourse etc.), and whoever is not able to marry, should fast, as fasting diminishes his sexual power.”

♣ Hazrath Aishah RadhiAllahu Anha asked Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam : “ if women must be asked for their permission of marriage.” Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam replied, "Yes.” She said, “The virgin is asked for her permission but she gets shy. Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, "Her silence is her permission.”
